World no tobacco day politics!: Interestingly, majority of the world was
celebrating the ‘no tobacco day’ on 31’ May. I am wondering at this! It is well
established that the ‘tobacco’ is harming the people in so many ways, various
cancers being the main concern apart from many other deadly diseases. Then why
don’t the governments around the world try to impose a ‘ban’ on tobacco
products? Why on one side the governments give permits to market the hazard and
on the other side to play the ‘no tobacco day’ politics? Many governments
around the world are surviving on the ‘sales tax’ paid by…

What is prayer ?: First of all, TRUE prayer is
not meant to please the ‘god’ for some kind of fulfillment. The main purpose of
prayer is to make ‘you’ evolve or to grow within. Charles Darwin speaks
of the ‘evolution of the physical forms’ but the religions speak of another
form of ‘evolution’ the ‘evolution of the inner self’ and exactly here the
‘prayer’ comes into play. Usually people pray the ‘god’ for fulfillment of
desires of various sorts, but it is mainly meant for the growth of the ‘soul’,
the inner self. But, this kind of prayer [with desires] is very primitive and
of course it is the starting point of …

How to lead happy life?: Hinduism says –
happiness is the result of ‘good doings’ or dharma and sorrow is the result of ‘bad
doings’ or sin. It means that – doing good things [charity,
selfless love, helping, prayer, etc.] will give you happiness later on in life
[while doing as well] and doing the opposite ‘bad things’ [looting, hating,
harming others, prostitution, etc,.] will make you suffer later on [not while
doing] in life. In spite of this – people do all sorts of bad things [sins]
but, they want to be happy! Hinduism says - this is impossible according to the
principles of the universe. Just like …

Science behind Sin: ‘Sin’ is an act of making
someone or yourself to suffer at the time of committing ‘it’ or later on. In
some of the ‘sins’ – we might not find anyone suffer out of it but, it is just
due to our lack of insight. For example if ‘you’ do ‘smoke’ then right at the
moment of smoking you feel the ‘kick’ out of smoking but, later on you might
get some type of ’cancer’ and you will suffer [for more info read
- Why Smoking is a Sin
? on this site]. The same is the case with any
type of ‘sin’. In many cases of ‘sin’ we don’t see someone suffering right in
front but, someone will suffer later on or …

Why we misunderstand our ancients ?: We
generally hear people claiming that certain ancient doctrines are not correct
or unbelievable. This is quite natural and is due to the maturity differences
between the readers (we) and the ancient sages, who had written the Vedas or
any other doctrines.
If Einstein says something to a kid, it is no
wonder that the kid will generally not understand him because it is beyond the
grasp of the kid. In the same sense we fail to understand certain sayings of
the sages. They are far above our understanding caliber and quite naturally we
will suspect them. But, due to our 'ego’…

Why didn't the ancients make the modern inventions?: Contrary
to the belief of the majority of the people, the ancient Hindus in fact had
most of the present day technological inventions. For example, the airplane,
submarine, atom bombs etc., things were present in the ancient India too. The
book on ‘Vaimanika Sastra’ [aeronautics] was written by the ‘Bharadwaja
Maharshi’ and planes were used by the ancient Kings and such citations
could be found in the ‘Ramayana’ and ‘Mahabharatha’. ‘Ravana’
- had plane with more advanced features than the present day airplanes.
But, though they had…

Why Non-Vegetarian food is Bad ?: All the
inputs we take will affect our body and our psychology invariably. The inputs
we take through our FIVE sense organs and even what we think will affect our
psychology but, of course not immediately. When the inputs we take through our
sense organs are not good – then our psychology will naturally be spoiled or
will become bad. Here bad implies – all that hampers our evolution [spiritual
growth]. The only symptom that you are spiritually growing is that, you are
becoming softer and softer deep within. Of course, it [softness] might
reflect on your physic…

Why many customs in ancient societies ?: Anything
complex thing or system can come into existence only out of deep insight and
understanding. For example – a theory like relativity could come up only after
rigorous thinking and for complex thinking to take place very wise people are
required and this could only give rise to sophisticated outputs.
Such wise people [sages] were
present in the ancient India and the result was the complex and obscure
sciences [sastras] and they indeed built a complex society too in
the ancient India, the society with many rules, regulations and customs.
Only a complex

Types of people in the World: There are many
modern theories that classify the individuals into different categories, based
on different things like their psychology, based on astrology, on the elements
[fire, air etc], how they do business, ethnicity and much more. But, here is a
classification in the Hindu scriptures that classifies the people based on how
they deal or interact with other people, according to this there are SEVEN
general types in people as follows. This applies to both men and women. There
are numerous examples to these 7-types of people in the Hindu
scriptures. ..

Why drinking alcohol is sin ?: All the major
religions imposed a ban on - smoking, drinking and using drugs and stamps them
as 'sin’. The reason behind this is not just religious but, scientific
too. If I smoke or drink or consume any other intoxicant – in due course
of time it [the bad chemicals that ‘come in’] will affect and spoil my
reproductive system. Due to this my sperm-cells / ovary-eggs are spoiled and
due to this my children will get the diseased genes from me and they will
suffer due to no fault of theirs, though they are not taking the
intoxicants. If luckily, my children escape from the jaws…
