Why there are problems in life ? : The 'life' is full of problems because, there should be problems in 'life' ! This might seem shocking, but it is true – according to Hinduism. According to Charles Darwin, the “naturalist”, ‘life forms’ will evolve, according to the principle of ‘natural selection’. The ‘best’ creatures are selected by the ‘nature’ and are given a chance to lead their life and those creatures failing to ‘win’ the race will perish. This implies that the ‘problems’ are a means that give birth to higher forms of life. Out of problems, higher ‘creatures’ are born. If there are no problems in nature, if there is no ‘struggle for survival’ there is no scope for the birth of higher forms of life. This logic extended says that – problems are meant to bread some ‘higher things’, problems have higher motives, whatever they might be, how miserable and heart rending they might be! Out of the ‘darkness’ the golden light will descend. Nature teaches us by means of problems...

Student types and college behavior & impact ! : Out of the three – the ‘idiotic’, ‘intelligent’ and the ‘genius’ student types, the ‘idiotic’ student in general is a menace to the college campus. These do all types of nuisance in the college campus. They disturb other students and the peace on the college campus. The teachers, good students and others – don’t want these types on the campus and want them out as the earliest. In a sense these disrupt the college campus in all the possible ways and in some sense these will make the college life enjoyable too with their mischief acts. These take the active role in boycotts, strikes on the campus and the like. Involve in eve teasing, quarrels on the campus etc, and are responsible for all sorts of unruly behavior. Of course, NOT all the ‘idiotic’ students will do these things but, the majority will do. Neither the college affects these students nor these ‘idiotic’ students are affected by the college to a great degree...

Student types and their aspirations ! : The three types of students, the ‘idiotic’, ‘intelligent’ and the ‘genius’ - have different types of aspirations in general. The ‘idiotic’ student – just wants to complete the degree and wants to get a job. They don’t have any ‘big’ plans in life. What all they need is: materialistic comforts and generally nothing else. Generally, they don’t aim for the best companies, best jobs and the like. All they want is – just a job that pays them ‘good’ amount of salary and other benefits. They don’t have ‘great desires’ like becoming ‘noble laureates’, great scientists, great authors and the like. Often, these will settle into jobs requiring ‘good’ workers. The ‘intelligent’ student on the other hand aims to join in the best job possible, the best company or organization possible. They want all the best things in life and work – as far as possible. These dream big and fail often to achieve them. They aim for the ‘noble’ prize and they never get it almost...

Student types and college selection ! : The three types of students enlisted earlier, the ‘idiotic’, ‘intelligent’ and the ‘genius’ types have different preferences while choosing their colleges and universities. The ‘idiotic’ students don’t care where they read and generally they feel any college or university is fine for them. Preferably they don’t want to join in the top colleges and universities and of course they can’t get them either. Their entire motive is to get admitted in any college and they don’t care the ‘ranking’ of the college. Their aim is to get a ‘degree’ or ‘diploma’. Coming to the ‘intelligent’ students – these are the most choosy while opting for the college and course and subject. They want to join the so called prestigious institutions, the top ranked colleges and the best courses available. These will work hard to meet the requirements of the top colleges and universities; they work so hard that all their ‘life ambition’ is nothing but, ONLY this – getting a degree from...

Student types and their class-room behavior !  : In the previous article it was brought into light, the 3-types of students – the idiotic, intelligent and the genius. This article will elaborate on the same concept but, this will deal with the ‘class-room behavior’ of the 3-types of students. The idiotic student and the genius will look alike in many ways as it has been mentioned in the previous article. The idiotic student will fail or will get less grades in the class and surprisingly the ‘genius’ too will be in the same track and the ‘intelligent’ student will stand first in the class but, not the genius. The ‘intelligent’ students will generally occupy the first benches in the class, will do their homework on time, will submit the assignments properly, will work hard, will be obedient and will be a good student. He/she will be the ‘model’ student often ‘praised’ by the teachers and others. But, on the other hand the ‘idiotic’ student will be often looked down by the teachers and their...

Why prostitution is sin ? : All the major religions on the globe want the wife and husband to be loyal towards each other and condemn all sorts of extra material relationships unanimously. Here, I am NOT going to comment on the ‘sin’ of ‘it’, rather I will describe how you fail to grow or ‘evolve’ or how you are spoiling yourself, your ‘inner growth’, your evolution due to prostitution. Here, 'prostitution' implies just any extra-marital sexual affair. For any occurrences there will be many outcomes and for this too there will be many bad consequences, but I am focusing on the ‘inner’ deterioration due to the extramarital relationships. The Hindu religion includes ‘extra-marital’ relationship under ‘maha patak’, the ‘great sins’ and there should be serious reasons for it otherwise the sastras [scriptures] will not warn so seriously on the matter. Before telling the wife and husband not to cheat it is required to state the significance of the marriage...

Methods of getting maturity ? : Hinduism says; ‘life a great voyage from the known to the unknown’. The sole purpose of this voyage is nothing but, spiritual maturity. This applies not only to the ‘human beings’, but to all the living beings as well. All beings are continuously maturating, knowingly or unknowingly. The Hinduism says in each step of the life, with each experience, with each work - the ‘soul’ gets maturity, but the maturity level differs on the kind of work or experience the ‘soul’ faces or involves. But, in many walks or steps of life the maturity gained is negligible, but the following FOUR categories will impart considerable maturity on the ‘soul’ concerned. Broadly speaking, there are 4-different methods to get maturity. These follow, in the increasing order of imparting maturity, in general:

How to live in the World ? : One should live in such a way that the profits out of the life are maximized, i.e., while you take leave from the life – you should go with the maximum profits, this is the way to live and lead the life. One should lead the life with a long term goal, to maximize the profits in the long term, i.e., at the end of life one should have the maximum profits.  But, most of the present people are trying to get the gains instantly hence are in debts in the long term, at the end of the life. Seeking the enjoyments right in front – they are not storing anything for the long term. Going after the temporary joys the people are not benefiting in the long term. In enjoying the world as much as possible – they are doing all sorts of immoral and inhumane things – and thus are getting short term gains but, in the long term they remain as sinners. Once, the life is over – they are in debts, in sins - hence will suffer later. But, the wise way of living is to have the maximum profits...

Can money make you happy ? : Yes – but ONLY to a certain degree! Money alone can’t make a person happy, for sure – as you know well and lack of money is a misery on the other hand. Excluding the monks dwelling in the forests, for all of us living in the society, money is a must. But, the extent to which the money can make you happy depends on many factors like your life style, maturity, necessarily, etc,. Money can bring you physical comforts to a great degree but, being happy or unhappy will surely depend on your ‘mental maturity’. If you are mentally mature you could be as happy without money as you would be with lots of money. The main thing is the attitude of the person. Some REALLY wise people don’t care for the money and they are purely happy with the least materialistic comforts they have like food and clothing and a small shelter. They are like the ‘rock of Gibraltar’ amidst rocking troubles and lead a life of joy but, this needs a lot of...

Is media responsible for growing crimes in the world ? : Throughout the human history we could witness the crimes happening in the world to a lesser or greater degree. This implies that the media is not the main cause of concern as even in the absence of the media there are reported instances of crimes. What then, the question arises, does the media not have any role in the growing crimes in the world? We have to divide the crimes into different groups in order to answer this question. Take for example, the ‘rape’ cases alone for discussion. Even in the historic and the pre-historic (mythological ?) days too there are reported instances of ‘rapes’ on the globe and the media as we know them today, the TVs, Internet, magazines, pornography etc., are the recent inventions and in their absence too there were ‘rapes’ on the globe. On the other hand it is interesting to note that, all the people watching the ‘porn’ are not committing ‘rapes’. But, no doubt although all who are...
